The New Warmerdam Homestead

On Oct 28th, 2005 my family and I completed the purchase of a new house. It is located in the countryside about 15 minutes west of the Ottawa Valley town of Eganville, on Foymount road.

The locals already refer to it as the "old Frew place", the Frews having built it and lived in it since 1979 till we bought it from them.

You can see the locale on Google Maps. Click on the "-" button to zoom out and see more of the surrounding area.

Our new house is nestled amoung the trees, and here you can see us all out on the front deck, enjoying the view.

The property is 83 acres, about 60 acres is wooded. A creek (or as we used to say when I was a kid - crik) runs through it though as you can see in this picture I sometimes refer to the creek as a swamp.

There is also a wooden bridge over the creek. The kids are already fascinated with the crayfish and other wildlife in the water.

The forested area behind the creek has several paths through it, making it ideal for the kids to run around exploring.

In addition to the house shown above, there is also a beautiful log cabin with an addition on the property.

After our first weekend, we needed to leave a couple guards to keep an eye on the house till we could return. Here they are patrolling the front deck.

By Canada Day we had a new guard dog to protect the homestead.

Which is a good thing, because there are some lunatics living in the area.
